Spurred by a Special Report in SICKLE CELL NEWS (vol 13 no 1), the Sickle Cell Support Society of Nigeria (SCSSN) has opened preliminary talks with the Sickle Cell Herbal Solution (SCHS), Lagos. Testimonials on the administration of the herbal potion were featured in the January-March 2020 edition of the magazine, which was made available online for a limited period.
Professor Obiageli Nnodu, Vice President, Sickle Cell Support Society of Nigeria, and Director, Centre For Sickle Cell Disease Research & Training (CESRTA), Abuja, has made contact with the SCHS, Lagos, with a view to coming up with an MOU on partnership and research. The Ireland-based Naturopathic Dr. Believe Osiuwhu has allegedly administered the solution to individuals with SCD in Europe to excellent results. SCHS was established in Lagos in May 2019 and has been receiving patronage from families having wards living with sickle cell, similarly with very encouraging results.

‘We are having a conversation about making our patients available to the SCSSN/CESRTA for thorough scientific investigation and validation,’ Dr. Osiuwhu said. His solution is actually a combination of Nigerian phytoceutical roots and herbs.
Formed in 2010, the SCSSN aims to build capacity for delivering comprehensive care and to forge partnerships for multicentre collaborative research nationally and internationally to reduce the burden of SCD in Nigeria.
Keeping the solution in Nigeria will be a huge prestige benefit to a country buckling under the burden of mankind’s most-commonly inherited blood disorder.
