The West African phytoceutical known as sorghum bicolor (under the proprietary name of Jobelyn) was recently registered in the drug dictionary of the US National Cancer Institute (NCI). It is described as being rich in Polyphenols and phenolic acids with the potential for antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulating and chemopreventive capabilities.
This testimonial by a Nigerian medical doctor who has administered Jobelyn on her adopted son and biological child with positive results foreshadows the recognition and inclusion of the phytoceutical on NCI’s drug dictionary.
My name is Oluranti Ekpo. I am a medical doctor, and public health practitioner with the Rivers State Government of Nigeria.
I have long been involved in the management of HIV patients.
I have a little adopted son who was HIV positive when he was born. For the first twelve months of his life, he tested positive. He was part of the Global Aids Initiative (GAINS) PROJECT and the test was repeated several times during this period. At 18 months old, he was sent for another test and he tested NEGATIVE. The test was confirmed in two places. At the age of 2 years, the test was repeated and it remained NEGATIVE. He will remain negative because he is taking Jobelyn on a regular basis. He has been taking Jobelyn since he was 6 weeks old.
My adopted son was born as HIV positive child and was taken to the Motherless Babies’ Home after being abandoned by his mother. He was admitted to the Global Aids Initiative (GAINS) for Nigeria. Only HIV positive patients are admitted into the project.
My adopted son was born to an HIV positive mother and was abandoned and later picked up by an orphanage.
He was just four weeks old when I adopted him from an orphanage in Calabar. He was born to an HIV positive mother and was abandoned and later picked up by the orphanage. My husband and I put him through different types of medical tests. We knew that he was HIV positive before we adopted him. Because of our previous experience and knowledge of Jobelyn, we were confident that this product will help to sustain and stabilize him even if he had to remain positive for the rest of his life. All through his first year of life, he tested positive at the GAIN centre. When he was 18 months old, the test that he went through showed that he had turned HIV NEGATIVE. This was because he was taking Jobelyn consistently.
‘My daughter kept having crises every six weeks like clockwork .. no matter what we did to try to prevent it’
Sickle Cell and Jobelyn
I have a nine year – old daughter who was born with sickle-cell anaemia (SS). We confirmed this when she was 2 years old when she started manifesting symptoms of the disorder. The symptoms included paleness, having painful crisis, etc. We tried to manage her with orthodox drugs, making sure she was adequately hydrated, taking her paludrine, folic acid and other conventional maintenance drugs. None of these helped much.
She kept having crisis every six weeks like clockwork. I repeat, my daughter had crises every six weeks, no matter what we did to try to prevent it. A family friend, who is also a medical doctor but also practices natural medicine informed us about Jobelyn. We started giving the supplement to her at a small dose and later increased the dosage. She has been taking Jobelyn since she was two and a half years old. Since being on Jobelyn, she has looked and felt so much better. Occasionally, she has crisis, but it is usually mild. She herself so recognizes the importance of this product that she asks for it without being reminded. Even when I do not remember to give her, she calls for it herself and takes it religiously. Anytime she notices signs of impending crisis, she increases the dosage and reverts to the normal dosage later on.
My daughter does everything any other child does. She sings and plays the violin. She comes first in class; the day she comes second in class, she will be upset. She does not miss her classes; even when she has crisis, being mild, she still goes to school. She simply takes her Jobelyn and does not absent herself from school.
My daughter has been taking Jobelyn for about 7 years now. My daughter does not have the stigmata of a typical sickle-cell patient. Usually, sickle-cell patients have a big stomach, they have yellowish eyes, they have long, thin limbs, and sometimes they have a big head. She is like any other normal human being. People usually find it difficult to believe she lives with sickle cell anaemia.
