Hassan Mozeedah needs help to hear her special day’s special jingles… Just N400000 would lift her out of the woods of near-total silence

It’s Sickle Cell Warrior Hassan Mozeedah’s 4th birthday October 26th. Her journey of pain stated in June 2019 when she returned from school, showing signs which perplexed her parents. Taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja, she was diagnosed with meningitis. Meningitis is a long-known infection to which children with SCD are prone.

Discharged after three months on admission, she was found to have lost strength in her legs, and she could no longer hear or speak!
Little Miss Hassan was referred to physiotherapy to recover leg function, which she did to a good extent.
Her speech and hearing deficits were attributed to the lasting effects of meningitis. Doctors at Niger Dell Audiology, Lagos, concluded that she needs to use a hearing aid for three months after which – if the aid did not work – she will have to undergo surgery for an estimated N6 million (about $13000).
Hassan’s parents can’t afford the cost of the hearing aid much less surgery, minor or major.

‘We wish to solicit the assistance of the SCD Community in Nigeria and abroad to help get my daughter out of the doldrums,’ pleads Abubakar Ramat, Mozeedah’s mom.
