Savouring Adelani Ogunrinade’s Treasure
Every month – indeed everyday – turns into a sickle cell awareness occasion when you listen to and watch the epic love story, My Treasure, penned by song writer, Adelani Ogunrinade.
The former Planet TV host has been indirectly touched by sickle cell through the passing of a childhood friend and his sister who lives with the health condition.
‘I am AS but I know what it is to face the emotional pain and strain of stigmatization. The death of a close childhood friend and watching my sister suffer several sickle cell episodes inspired this project,’ Adelani explained.
The lead roles of the motion picture is going to be performed by Adelani Ogunrinade and Tendai Chitima. The Zimbabwean actress decided to take up the role of a Sickle Warrior as it falls in line with her passion to address several social ills through her craft.
‘It is an honor to play this role. I hope sickle cell warriors around the world are inspired by my character in ‘My Treasure’. I hope it gives them so much hope. I think the song – together with the storyline of the project is beautiful,’ said the Cook off star.
Tendai Chitima was born and schooled in Zimbabwe and did her tertiary studies at the University of Cape Town where she completed her Bachelor of Arts in Film, Media, Writing and Drama. While Adelani is a British-born Nigerian who resides in South Africa. He is a University of Witswatersrand alumni with an English degree.He is currently a TV presenter with Kwese Sports.
Music was only just a hobby, but Adelani has managed to turn it into a riveting advocacy tool.
