Welcome to World Sickle Cell Report, the world’s first dedicated online resource for everything sickle cell.
According to WHO estimates, 20% of the world’s population has an abnormal genetic inheritance. Sickle Cell Trait (SCT) is mankind’s most common inherited abnormality. Nigeria, Tanzania, India and DR Congo carry the trophy for having the biggest burden of Sickle Cell Disease (SCD). One way or another, some 120 million families are affected by SCD worldwide.
