WARNING: PLEASE DO NOT WATCH THIS VIDEO IF YOU ARE EMOTIONAL
Jennifer and Angel are identical twins born 26 years ago with sickle cell anaemia (SCA).
Their ordeal started in 2018 when both of them developed ulcers in their arms. Their parents sought for treatment at a private orthopedic hospital in Port Harcourt, and at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH), but instead of getting better, the wounds have deepened to unbelievable depths.
Right now, about three-quarter of the two bones – radius and ulna – that make up their right forearms are exposed – and rotting! Their surgeon estimates N13m (thirteen million Naira) as cost of treatment for both the girls. He also warns that unless there’s a quick medical intervention, they face amputation; or worse, may lose their lives through secondary infection(s).
Please, we plead to that selfless side of everyone who comes in contact with this post to lend a helping hand to this twins to enable them to be treated and to have productive and meaningful lives.
Please, let’s do something! Whatever you can do will be appreciated.
